Pay Attention

One of the things I wanted to do for a while was tighten the screen on my computer. I figured as long as I was doing that I would clean it too.  Computers over time collect dust, animal dander, and other little microscopic nasties that have to be removed.

I had done this before on this model and it’s not complicated.  Since there are a lot of steps  I thought I would pull up a video on disassembling  this model computer just to be sure I was on the right track.  After a while it was safely dismantled and before I knew it the computer was cleaned.

I knew that putting it back together was just a matter of backtracking so back together it went.  Screws in, top snapped into the bottom, and will you look at that.  I had an extra screw.  So back apart it came found the hole, screwed it in , snapped the bottom to the top, flip it over and will you look at that.  Two big holes where the fans go.  There about the size of dessert plates so I was surprised I missed them. So apart it came, screws out, fans in, snapped back together, keyboard attached, and will you look at that.  There’s no power. So keyboard out, unsnap, screws out, power cable reattached, screws in, keyboard attached, nd will you look at that.  Everything worked.

It was easy to get in because I had instructions.  It was hard to get out because I hadn’t paid attention and didn’t know what to do.

Sometimes we’re like that.  It’s easy to get into church. What we don’t know what to do when we get out.  What should I do?  Where should I go?  How should I act?

What should I do-

Care for the blind, the sick, the hungry, the prisoner, the lonely

Where should I go-

Where the blind, the hungry, the sick, the prisoner, and the lonely are to be found

How should I act-

            Like Jesus

So what if I don’t?

There’s a parable that goes like this-

“A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came looking for fruit on it and found none. 7 So he said to the gardener, ‘See here! For three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and still I find none. Cut it down! Why should it be wasting the soil?’ 8 He replied, ‘Sir, let it alone for one more year, until I dig around it and put manure on it. 9 If it bears fruit next year, well and good; but if not, you can cut it down.’”                                                                                                              Luke 13:6-9

You have a reprieve and maybe more time. Read what Jesus did for the poor.
