The Church Will Rise Up

Acts 2:31-34

22 “You that are Israelites, listen to what I have to say: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with deeds of power, wonders, and signs that God did through him among you, as you yourselves know— 23 this man, handed over to you according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of those outside the law. 24 But God raised him up, having freed him from death,[c] because it was impossible for him to be held in its power”.

One Day, when the pandemic is over, the church will rise up and witness to what God did in the midst of God’s people.  The church will tell their children and their children’s children about the health care workers on the front lines who healed as the hand of God guided their hands. The church will tell their children and their children’s children about those who went to work to keep the people of this world fed. The church will tell their children and their children’s children about those essential workers who kept the electricity and the fuel coming. The church will tell their children and their children’s children about how God made a way for people who had no masks to have masks. The church will tell their children and their children’s children how the scientists of the world united together to create a vaccine. The church will tell their children and their children’s children how God eased the fear and anxiety of God’s people and gave them hope. We will mourn our dead, that is for certain.  We will grieve for lost family members and friends.  Some will grieve for a way of life that used to be but is no more. The church will tell their children and their children’s children about how God turned our darkness into day, our mourning into dancing, and our winter into spring.
